Hardys Rematch and Knockouts TV Title on Line on TNA iMPACT
The Hardys challenge The Nemeths and M by Elegance defends against Elayna Black on the final iMPACT before Bound For Glory.
Two championships are on the line on TNA Thursday Night iMPACT this week. The Hardys use their contractual rematch against TNA World Tag Team Champions The Nemeths, and M by Elegance defends the TNA Knockouts Television Championship against Elayna Black. The show airs on Thursday, October 8 from the Boeing Center at Tech Port in San Antonio, Texas, and it is the last episode before Bound For Glory on Sunday.
The Hardys get their rematch
Matt and Jeff Hardy lost the tag titles at Lockdown on August 23 in Chicago. That match was a steel cage tornado tag, and Nic Nemeth won it for his side by pinning Matt after a Danger Zone. The win made Nic a double champion, since he already held the TNA World Championship, and it started the second reign for Nic and Ryan Nemeth as a team.
TNA confirmed on last week's show that the Hardys would cash in the rematch clause on this episode. Three days later they face syX, the pairing of the returning Samuel Shaw and newcomer Joseph Sawyer, in a Falls Count Anywhere match at Bound For Glory. TNA made that match after the Hardys called the two men out last week and syX vanished from the ring when the lights went out.
The Nemeths are also busy on Sunday. Nic defends the world title against Leon Slater, who took the "Option C" route after winning back the X-Division Championship at Lockdown, giving up that belt for a world title shot. Ryan is one of six men in the scramble for the now vacant X-Division title. A loss on Thursday would leave Nic with one title to carry into Tampa.
M by Elegance against Elayna Black
The Knockouts Television Championship is new. Traci Brooks announced it at Slammiversary on June 28 as a title to be defended on the weekly show, and a 16-woman tournament began on July 2 with entrants from WWE's NXT and Evolve brands as well as the independents. First-round matches had a 10-minute time limit, and that rule knocked Black out of the bracket when her bout with Wendy Choo went the distance and both women were eliminated. M by Elegance received a bye to the semi-finals as a result, and she beat Jada Stone in the final on August 27 in Brampton, Ontario, to become the first champion.
M then retained against Kiera Hogan in September. Black earned her shot on the September 24 episode by winning a four-way against Stone, Gabby Forza and Harley Hudson. Stone had just hit the Spark Stunner on Forza and knocked Hudson to the floor when Black caught her with a DDT for the pin.
The champion will be alone on Thursday. TNA announced last week that The Elegance Brand has been banned from ringside for the match, so M will have none of her stablemates in her corner.
The rest of the show
TNA has advertised several other segments, most of them set up for Sunday:
- KC Navarro against Fabian Aichner, a non-title match between two of the six men in the X-Division scramble at Bound For Glory.
- Knockouts World Champion Xia Brookside and challenger Indi Hartwell give their final words before their title match on Sunday.
- Knockouts World Tag Team Champions Allie and Kiera Hogan in tag team action.
- An eight-man tag with Frankie Kazarian, Trey Miguel, Bear Bronson and Elijah against AJ Francis, Brian Myers, The Home Town Man and Joe Alonzo. The winning side earns an advantage in the random draw for the Call Your Shot Gauntlet.
