Why the Mega Championship was at stake
The tag match grew out of the finish of TripleMania 34. On Night 2, September 13, El Grande Americano beat Dominik Mysterio in a no disqualification match at Arena CDMX to win the AAA Mega Championship, ending a Dominik reign that began at Worlds Collide in Las Vegas in September 2025. With the regular referee down, Rey Mysterio appeared in a referee's shirt and counted the pin himself. A night earlier, Omos had beaten Rey in the Night 1 main event.
Americano opened the León show in a suit with the belt over his shoulder and spoke to the crowd in Spanish about finishing his story. Dominik, Omos and Dorian Roldán came out to interrupt. Roldán talked up Omos as the greatest in the world and drew loud boos, then argued that Rey had no license to officiate a title match and threatened legal action over the TripleMania result. His position was that Dominik was still the rightful champion.
Rey came out next and backed Americano as a champion the company could be proud of. Americano then made the challenge himself. If Dominik and Omos won the tag match that night, Dominik would get another shot at the title. If they lost, Dominik could never challenge Americano for the Mega Championship again for as long as Americano held it.
Main event: Dominik Mysterio and Omos vs. El Grande Americano and Rey Mysterio
Father and son started the match. Rey caught Dominik in an early rollup, Dominik answered with a clothesline, and Rey came back with a bulldog. Americano tagged in and hit a running penalty kick. When Omos entered at around the three and a half minute mark, Americano jumped on his back for a sleeper, and Omos backed him hard into the corner to get free. Americano later trapped Omos in a cross armbreaker over the ropes, but Dominik threw him into the ring steps on the floor.
The heels took over from there. Dominik landed a slingshot senton for a near fall, and Omos worked over Americano's arms. Rey got the hot tag around seven minutes in and ran through headscissors takedowns, corner punches and a seated senton. Rey and Americano lined up stereo 619s, but Omos broke it up. They later tied Omos' arms in the ropes so Americano could punch away at him, and Americano hit a top rope blockbuster on Dominik.
The finish came in pieces. Roldán pulled the referee's attention away, and Omos dragged Americano to the floor and beat him down. Rey hit two 619s around the ring post and then a seated senton that crashed through the announce table. When Rey rolled back into the ring, Dominik grabbed his face and pulled his mask off. Dominik then hit Americano in the head with the Mega Championship belt and covered him for the three count at 11:56. He finished the show holding his father's mask in one hand and Americano's title in the other.
Pulling off a rival's mask is one of the worst things a wrestler can do in lucha libre, and Dominik did it to his own father in front of a Mexican crowd. That gives the Héroes Inmortales rematch a family story on top of the title dispute.
La Parka vs. Mr. Iguana for the Latin American Championship
Mr. Iguana, usually one of the lighter acts on the roster, came in serious. A backstage segment before the match showed him down after a loss at TripleMania. La Parka opened with a surfboard hold, and the two traded headscissors and dropkicks after matching kip ups. La Parka hit a dive to the floor and a rolling kip up stunner for a near fall. Iguana answered with an enzuigiri and a crucifix driver that nearly ended it, and La Parka came back with a top rope Spanish Fly for another near fall.
After both men went down from stereo clotheslines at around nine minutes, Los Perros del Mal ran in and attacked them. La Parka's mask was torn in the assault. Niño Hamburguesa ran down to make the save, and the match was ruled a no contest, so La Parka keeps the Latin American Championship.
What it sets up for Héroes Inmortales
Héroes Inmortales takes place Saturday, October 24, 2026, at the Gimnasio Olímpico Juan de la Barrera in Mexico City. Two matches on the card come straight out of this episode.
- AAA Mega Championship: El Grande Americano (c) vs. Dominik Mysterio, with Omos and Roldán expected in Dominik's corner.
- AAA World Trios Championship: Los Perros del Mal (c) vs. La Parka, Mr. Iguana and Niño Hamburguesa.
Los Perros del Mal won the trios titles at TripleMania 34, ending the 664 day reign of Los Psycho Circus. The AAA World Cruiserweight Championship is also scheduled to be defended on the show, with the challenger yet to be confirmed.
Dominik held the Mega Championship for just over a year before TripleMania, and he goes into the rematch with Omos and Roldán behind him. Whether Rey will be involved on October 24 has not been announced.
