Tony Khan Fires Back at Fan Who Called ROH a Disaster

· 3 min read

Khan said the fan cherry-picked a July episode and pointed to Death Before Dishonor and the free October 5 ROH show on YouTube.

Ring of Honor owner Tony Khan got into a public argument with a fan on X on October 6, 2026, after the fan called the current ROH product a "disaster." Khan said the fan had picked out a weekly episode from July and pointed to the August Death Before Dishonor pay-per-view and a free ROH show on YouTube the night before.

What the fan said

The fan posted a screenshot of an ROH on HonorClub episode from July that had a user rating of 5.57 out of 10 on a popular fan database. The post read:

"What are we doing with ROH bro. This is just an example of the disaster that is going on these days. I'd love to see ROH go back to its roots and run actual shows again."

The last line is a familiar complaint. For most of Khan's ownership, the weekly ROH show was taped before or after AEW events, and since March 2026 it has been taped in a television studio in Jacksonville, Florida. Some longtime ROH fans want the brand back to running its own live events with paying crowds, the way it did before the sale.

Tony Khan's reply

Khan took issue with the timing more than the rating itself:

"'These days'? It's October. This tv was in July. Since then, there was an excellent ROH Death Before Dishonor ppv in August. It was widely praised. There was free ROH TV on YouTube last night with tremendous action. You handpicked a tv from months ago and called it 'these days.'"

The fan then clarified that the complaint was about the weekly show and not the pay-per-views. They praised ROH's big events but said the weekly program had a lot of room to improve and repeated the call for ROH to return to live shows.

The shows Khan pointed to

Death Before Dishonor took place on August 21, 2026, at the 2300 Arena in Philadelphia and streamed on HonorClub. Athena retained the ROH Women's World Championship against Hazuki in a main event that went just over 30 minutes, and Bandido kept the ROH World Championship by beating Nick Wayne. Action Andretti beat Lio Rush in a Fight Without Honor with the ROH Television Championship on the line, Lee Moriarty got past Katsuyori Shibata in a Pure Championship match, and Sky Team came out on top of a four-way tag title match.

The "free ROH TV on YouTube" Khan mentioned was episode 14 of ROH's YouTube special series, which aired on Monday, October 5, on the promotion's official channel. It was taped at WJCT Studios in Jacksonville. Bandido defended the ROH World Championship against AR Fox in the main event and won with the 21 Plex. The undercard included Queen Aminata over Janai Kai, Dalton Castle and The Outrunners over The Supastarz, Bishop Kaun over Alan Angels, Trish Adora over B3CCA and Satnam Singh over Jacked Jameson.

Where ROH stands in October 2026

Khan's purchase of ROH was announced on March 2, 2022, and the sale closed that May. He bought the brand, its intellectual property and its video library through a company separate from AEW. Since March 2023 the weekly ROH show has streamed on HonorClub, the promotion's subscription service, and ROH has not had a regular broadcast television deal in that time. In 2025, it was reported that Khan was still waiting for a TV offer that paid enough to make one worth doing.

The biggest change this year came on March 1, 2026, when ROH held its first standalone taping at WJCT Studios. Khan said afterward that Jacksonville was "the new home of Ring Of Honor," and the promotion has gone back regularly to tape several weeks of television at a time. Alongside the weekly HonorClub show, ROH now puts out the free YouTube specials, which reach viewers who do not subscribe.

ROH does not publish its finances. In 2023, Khan said HonorClub had about 15,000 subscribers. At Death Before Dishonor 2025, a streaming failure led Khan to put the show on YouTube for free mid-event and credit subscribers a month, which he said would cost him "hundreds of thousands of dollars."

ROH's 2026 pay-per-views so far have been Supercard of Honor on May 15 in Salisbury, Maryland, where Athena and Bandido both kept their titles, and Death Before Dishonor in August.
